Something blog from the 90’s about this newsletter Ive realized. Not focused, very personal, really just whatever Im thinking/interested in each week, more for me than you somehow but I want it to be for you too. Something from a simpler time when people felt they could just say what they thought and people would read, because there wasnt all that much to read out there. I want you to want to read it, but if it’s just about me, why would you really? Whats in it for you when there are so many people trying to capture your attention with an “offer” - hook-story-call-to-action - hook-story-call-to-action , every “content block” finely tuned to “offer value to the user”, why would people read things that are just what someone thinks anymore? Im not trying to be self deprecating, but do you feel that? That people just thinking as they think isnt really enough? Maybe it’s never been actually. Alan Watts - he writes essays about what he thinks, but there is an offer there. He has a hook at the beginning of some way of being that you either want or doing want to be, then beautiful words about how to get there or not get there, and then a call to action at the end wrapping it all up. So maybe it’s the same formula but in longer form. hook-story-call-to-action. hook-story-call-to-action. Gives me anxiety. I want to get my thoughts and ideas out into the world. I want people to listen, but I cant seem to fall into that formula in a way that works. Why do I want people to listen? And how many people? I used to feel like I was good online and not in person. That I could communicate my ideas and connect well in media or newsletters or social media, but in person was more difficult. Now I feel the opposite. That in person I can communicate and connect and inspire, but online I cant. Interesting right? How that can change. I do think a change for the better for my life, but maybe a change for the worse for my “career”. hook-story-call-to-action.
