The world I work to create
What would the world be like if everyone was able to create and share what was most unique about them?
What would the world be like if everyone was able to create and share what was most unique about them? Yes, it's out there, but dream with me for just a minute. It'll be fun. If all the boundaries were taken away, everyone had all the time and all the resources, and most importantly, all the support and confidence, to create the thing that was unique to them. Everyone's unique voice. Let's think for a second what that world would be like.
People wouldn't be famous for their art, not in the way we think of fame. There aren't millions of fans for every person on earth. But maybe they would be appreciated in a way that felt more solid. Everyone with 1000 or a 100 or 10 true fans. And imagine a world where that was valued. Where creating what came naturally to you, for the few people who paid attention, was enough. Not grasping and screaming into the voids of social media to try to hit metrics and numbers, but being satisfied with a small community of people who loved what you did, and were willing to support it. Mini armies of patrons supporting each other and supporting us all. With money, yes, it's hard to live without it, but more importantly supporting their desire to keep creating.
Imagine a world where everyone thought their ideas were good. A world where no one had anything to prove or someone to beat, but where everyone could just exist alongside each other, without the need to force one another into the box of what they thought art was, because the need to make someone live the life you live comes from an insecurity that maybe you've made the wrong choice. That if someone else is happy in a life you haven't chosen, then maybe all the work you've done to put yourself into that box wasn't necessary. When I work to create things like Fridays at Four, that's the world I'm seeing as the goal. I know we'll never get all the way there, and maybe we're getting farther away from it every day, but we only have so much energy, and so much life, and so I choose to use it seeing the possibility of something beautiful, and trying to work towards it. A world where each person genuinely feels like they deserve to exist, and that what they have to say matters. That's the world I see when I work.
p.s.
Huge thanks to everyone who reached out about being beta testers, really does just warm the heart that people want to use this little package of wonder I've been working on like a mad scientist all these months. I'll get back to you all very soon.
